The first press conference of Guangzhou Asian Para Games, 2010 was held in NPC building, with presence of Gholamreza Ebrahimi the manager of Games headquarter and three of the vice presidents today morning.
According to I.R.I NPC Public Relations Report, at the beginning of this meeting Gholamreza Ebrahimi talked about all measures, activities and meetings held so far regarding Games. He also mentioned that it is the first time that these Games are held in Asia; and that Games headquarter was established with presence of sophisticated and experienced people from the beginning of March 2010 in order to have a better and more successful performance in these Games. The committees and deputies of the headquarter have been active since then. He talked about the mass plans which have been determined in policy making council:
1. Presence in all sports and classes as long as there is no prohibition in presence and activity in pertinent sport and gaining medal
2. Taking advantage of experiences in previous Games from all headquarter, scientific and executive aspects
3. Trying to use people who could participate in London Paralympic Games, 2012
4. Using young athletes as long as it is not risky
5. Trying to keep and elevate the previous status considering the improvement of quality level of Games and China`s hosting
6. Considering minimum qualification standards and gaining quality of participation in Games
7. Trying to have a stronger presence in lower classes in case the minimum qualification standards is gained and hoping to achieve medals
Later, he gave some explanations regarding the trip to the Chef de Mission Seminar in Guangzhou which was held on 29th - 30th May 2010 in Guangzhou. On the first day, different sections of the headquarter presented their responsibilities and taken measures for conducting the Games; on the second day, the village and main venues were visited and final report was presented by different units. He added it is the first time that three villages are gathered in one village and that the distance of the furthest venue is 40 minutes.
It should be added that in this press conference Dr Bahman Zand, the Secretary General of medical committee, Seyed Bagheri, the Technical deputy of the Games and Aghajani, the Secretary General of Scientific Headquarter of the Games answered the questions of reporters along with expressing the schedules of their area of authority. NPC secretary General also answered the questions of reporters regarding hosting conditions, minimum qualification standards of Iran and readiness level of teams.
